Jessie grew up in Connecticut, New York, Switzerland, and Africa - She moved to Naini-Tal, India in 1977 then to Athens, Greece. She finally traveled west to Wyoming, where she met her husband. They had 2 boys and moved to Bozeman in 1984 and haven’t left since!!
Jessie published her first book The Warping of Al in 1989 with Harper&Row, and her second book Resilience: Two Sisters and s Story of Mental Illness in 2014. Both are still available.
Jessie loves to create, in this order: writing, photography, and drawing. She’s working on two more novels, a photography project called STANDING STILL, and a book about ranching life with her friend Molly Aagard who grew up on a ranch in McAllister, Montana, where Jessie lived for 20 years on North Meadow Creek. This book is Jessie’s photos with Molly’s writing. They are actively looking for a publisher.
Jessie had a daughter in 1991. Her sons are both now in their forties, and her daughter is in her thirties. Between them, Jessie has six grandchildren!!
